Merry Christmas from the Sweetie team!

This is of course our busiest time of year and the Sweetie team have been flat out since November, hand packing and fulfilling your orders. Christmas started at Sweet Memory Lane with orders for over 350 Advent Boxes, several weeks ago.  Since then, we’ve used: 300 candy canes 120 baskets 860 gift boxes 30 reels of red striped ribbon 8 rolls of cellophane 135 glass jars ….and at least 3 trips each day to the local Post Office! It’s nearly time for our little team of busy Sweetie elves to take a breather and put their feet up with a glass of sherry and a mince pie.  We close on Christmas Eve and will open our doors once again on Saturday 2 January.  Already we have our work cut out, with plans for the design of our 2016 now famous Advent Box starting immediately! I’ll make sure that each member of our team leaves on Christmas Eve with a selection of their own favourite treats.  For the Sweetie Lady, it just has to be a delicious tub of Cocoa Dusted Almonds with Luxury Belgium Buttons.  They go perfectly with the delicious Taylors of Harrogate Rich Italian Coffee! As always, you’ve made 2015 a wonderful year for our little sweet emporium and we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks. Wishing you and yours a safe, joyful Christmas and all our very best wishes for...

How to make the perfect hot chocolate

How to make the perfect hot chocolate           We might be having a mild (if stormy) winter, but there are few things as satisfying and relaxing at Christmas than a proper hot chocolate.  Forget the ready mix powder you can buy in the shops – once you’ve made our recipe, you’ll never settle for anything less again! First, put full fat milk into a saucepan with 50g of intense dark chocolate and gently heat but be careful not to reach boiling point.  Stir the liquid until all the chocolate has melted and it’s at a comfortable drinking temperature.  Pour into a warmed mug and add a dash of Taylerson’s Gingerbread or Caramel Flavoured Syrup for a luxurious taste. For those of you who have a real sweet tooth, roughly dice some BARU dark chocolate marshmallow and sprinkle on top.    Finally, pop in an Aine Hot Chocolate Swirl Stick and stir the syrup into the milky hot chocolate drink. Simply add a fire, the TV and a comfy sofa, and we guarantee you’ll enjoy the taste explosion that our perfect hot chocolate recipe provides. If you’re looking for ideas for last minute Christmas presents, why not provide all the ingredients in a little pack, along with one of our beautiful Emma Bridgewater Christmas mugs?  Designs include a Christmas town, Christmas stamps and robins.  If you’re short on time though, you’ll find our Mr Stanleys Seasonal Hamper absolutely ideal.  It’s literally choc full of mulling syrup, chocolate stirrers, candy canes, dark toffee candy, dark chocolate nougat, dark chocolate peppermint cremes and pure cocoa dusted almonds – definitely one for the adults! The Ashby Treats team is hard at work, preparing orders right now, to arrive in time for the big day.  Make sure that your Christmas cupboard is well stocked with our delicious goodies, and look forward to a well-deserved rest and some scrummy evenings by the...

TV worked a treat This Morning!

Recently, we were inundated with enquiries about our Advent Boxes, which proved to be the first choice of the reviewer on ITV’s This Morning programme! Frankly, we weren’t expecting such an immediate response, but our small team of three (with lots of helpers) were galvanised into action, to ensure that all orders were packed, despatched and delivered to eager customers by 1 December. The Advent Boxes, which were personalised and presented, ready-wrapped with a gorgeous striped candy cane, all had to be hand packed, with scrummy sweets nestling in 24 individually numbered traditional paper bags. All in all, we despatched 250 Advent Boxes within a few days – quite an achievement for a small team.  Here are a few statistics which will give you an idea of just how hard the Ashby Treats elves worked: 100 metres of bubble wrap and 250 brown boxes 10 rolls of parcel tape, 250 sheets of labels 250 each of “Finger of Fudge” and candy necklaces 6 kilos of strawberry bonbons A mountain of chocolate coins …all packed into 6000 paper bags! 8 trips to the Post Office and 20 trips to the Parcel Drop shop Not bad I’m sure you’ll agree!  Of course this caffeine-fuelled activity was supported by copious amounts of coffee! Although this is our busiest time of year, we were delighted to see our products being recommended nationally – a testament to the creativity, quality and attention to detail which we insist upon for every package that leaves our...
